Total Lunar Eclipse in Pisces: Finding Flow Amid the Tension

This Sunday, September 7, 2025, the full moon rises in Pisces, and it’s no ordinary lunation. It’s a total lunar eclipse, amplifying the already potent pull of the full moon. Full moons illuminate tension between opposites, and this one highlights the polarity of Virgo and Pisces. The Sun shines in Virgo, while the Moon reflects back from Pisces, pulling us in different directions. Virgo craves order, plans, and precision, while Pisces drifts toward dreams, intuition, and surrender. At times, it may feel like they’re speaking different languages—yet each holds medicine the other deeply needs.

Here are five ways Pisces can help Virgos during this lunar eclipse:

  1. Softening the Edges – Letting go of perfectionism and embracing imperfection.
Pisces helps Virgo loosen her grip on perfectionism by reminding her that beauty often lies in the messy, unfinished, and unpolished moments of life. Pisces whispers: “It’s okay to let go.”
  2. Trusting Intuition – Listening to inner wisdom beyond facts and plans.
While Virgo leans on logic, planning, and facts, Pisces brings in intuitive wisdom. Pisces encourages Virgo to pause the analyzing and listen to the quiet inner voice that knows without needing proof.
  3. Opening to Compassion – Releasing judgment and offering forgiveness.
Virgo can be hard on herself (and others) when things don’t measure up. Pisces counters this with deep compassion, helping Virgo soften judgment and embrace forgiveness.
  4. Inviting Flow – Loosening control and learning to go with life’s rhythms.
Virgo thrives in structure, but can get stuck when life doesn’t follow the plan. Pisces teaches the art of surrender and going with the flow—trusting that not everything needs a checklist.
  5. Nurturing the Spirit – Exploring art, dreams, and rituals that feed the soul.
Virgo cares deeply for the body and mind through routines, healthy habits, and learning. Pisces adds the spiritual dimension, reminding Virgo that meditation, art, music, and dreams nourish the soul.

Creating Under the Pisces Full Moon

As a Virgo, I know how easy it is to slip into “work mode” when I sit down with art supplies. But to honor Pisces, I chose play over perfection. I pulled out my paints and created a free-flowing background, letting the colors bleed and mingle without trying to control the outcome. I used my Four Gates stencil only for the outline, setting aside its usual precision. Instead of relying on it to guide the entire design, I painted a circle to represent the full moon and left parts of the background loose and fluid to suggest the two fish of Pisces. For the finishing touch, I added the constellation, a gentle reminder of the cosmos holding us in this moment.

This creative process helped me embody Pisces’ gifts, releasing control, trusting the process, and relaxing into the flow state. I especially loved how the background naturally suggested the colors and textures of fish. None of it was planned. You could call it a happy accident, but I see it as an expression of the intuitive side of painting and something that can’t be explained by logic.

Journaling with the Eclipse

My journal is a place where I take notes in a creative and artful way. Boxes on the page create spaces for insights, affirmations, and reflections.

At the beginning of this week, I pulled a Tarot card: The Chariot. Swift-moving, the Chariot aligns beautifully with Mercury, Virgo’s ruling planet, which entered Virgo on September 2, 2025. Both speak of momentum. Mercury is the messenger who moves quickly between worlds, and the Chariot reminds us to focus on our target and direct all our energy toward it. When actions are aligned with one’s soulful purpose, we advance with inspired action.

The affirmations I wrote in this box were shaded in yellow, reflecting the confidence and action-oriented energy of the solar plexus chakra:

  • Choose to ride the peaks and valleys with focus, confidence, control and conviction.
  • Consistent movement toward your goal sparks your dreams into reality.
  • Set goals, make plans, and follow through with confidence.

On the facing page, cool blues honor Pisces, a water sign, with its message to ride the waves and go with the flow. Another box highlights the medicine of Pisces, which I shared earlier in this post: softening the edges, letting go of perfectionism, trusting intuition, and listening to wisdom beyond facts and plans.

A box in soft pastel pinks speaks to compassion. Pisces reminds us to release judgment and offer forgiveness. For Virgo, who can be so critical of herself, this becomes a tender message: be gentle with yourself, practice self-compassion.

The final box invites the Pisces gift of flow: nurturing the spirit through art, dreams, and rituals.

A roll of washi tape featuring a design inspired by 'The Great Wave off Kanagawa,' placed on a wooden surface with notes about a lunar eclipse dated September 7, 2025.

At the top of the page, I placed a strip of Japanese Washi tape featuring The Great Wave off Kanagawa. This wave represents Neptune, ruler of Pisces, who recently moved into the sign of Pisces and may be felt strongly during this eclipse. The Greeks knew Neptune as Poseidon, god of the sea, wielding his trident to stir up wild storms. Yet Pisces, his sign, teaches us to play in the waves rather than fear them.

Pictured here is my sister-in-law learning to surf. This photo captures the spirit of Pisces having fun riding the waves. The rainbow of colors perfectly reflects her compassion for others and the Piscean desire for unity.
statue of neptune also know as Poseidon

There’s also an old story of Poseidon’s love for Hestia, goddess of the hearth. He was drawn to her calm, steady presence, though she chose a life of tending the sacred fire rather than marrying him. I see Virgo in Hestia: grounded, steadfast, and devoted to tending what truly matters.

So how is this showing up for me? As I reflect on the intense energies of this eclipse season, especially at work, I realize the importance of starting my day with quiet meditation. I also feel called to take gentle pauses throughout the day to steady myself. Astrology gives me a way to read the currents and choose how to navigate them. For that, I’m grateful. Those unaware may get swept away in Neptune’s storms during this Pisces lunar eclipse.

May this reflection support you in finding calm, peace, and perhaps a little play as you move through these powerful days.
