Capricorn New Moon – Dream to Doing

Capricorn New Moon Tarot Reading & Mandala Art Practice – January 18, 2026
This Capricorn New Moon invites a shift from intention setting to intentional action. In this tarot guided reflection, we explore how the Wheel of Fortune, Magician, Two of Wands, Six of Pentacles and The Fool illuminate the path from dreaming to doing. This post focuses on building sustainable goals, creating structure, cultivating resilience, and understanding the energetic exchange between creativity, community, and purpose as you make a plan for the year ahead.

The Capricorn New Moon marks a turning point in the year. This is not the energy of wish lists or vague intentions. Capricorn asks for something more honest and more committed. What are you willing to build, and what are you willing to do consistently to support it?

This New Moon is about moving from dreaming to doing.

This is not just another New Moon. The energy right now is unusually concentrated and supportive for long term goals and meaningful change.

A rare Capricorn alignment

At this New Moon, many planets are gathered together in Capricorn. The Sun, Moon, Mercury, Mars, Venus, and Pluto are all conjunct. These are personal planets, along with Pluto, which means this energy is available to you on a very personal level.

This alignment creates a powerful container for intention setting. It supports focus, commitment, and the ability to build something that lasts.

Plant the seed for the long game

Capricorn energy is about foundations, structure, and steady progress. This is not a time for quick wins or instant gratification. It is about planting a seed you are willing to nurture over time.

This New Moon invites you to get clear about one intention. One wish. One direction you are ready to commit to. When you plant that seed now, you are working with an energy that supports consistency, discipline, and meaningful achievement.

In the accompanying Tarot reading, five cards guide this journey. The Wheel of Fortune, The Magician, the Two of Wands, the Six of Pentacles, and the Fool. Together, they tell a story about preparation, agency, choice, and sustainable exchange.

Tarot cards the Wheel and the Magician

The Wheel of Fortune – How to Create Your Own Luck

The Wheel of Fortune opens the reading by reframing luck. In the Light Seer’s deck, this card shows several wheels stacked one upon another, with a woman standing in a steady yogic tree pose. Around her neck hangs a necklace of two dice. Life moves in cycles, and while we can’t control the events that happen, we can control how we show up to meet them.

Capricorn understands this deeply. She is not discouraged when progress is slow. She builds on experience. She learns from repetition. Each turn of the wheel brings more wisdom, more skill, and more readiness. Luck here is not random. It is cultivated.

We make our own luck through preparation, practice, and presence. Lucky people notice opportunities. They trust their intuition. They stay open to new experiences. They believe in their dreams enough to take action. They are resilient when things do not unfold as expected. They keep going.

This is where Capricorn’s teaching becomes practical. Building a foundation requires small, consistent steps. This is the spirit of the Japanese principle of kaizen, steady improvement over time. The mountain goat does not rush the climb. It moves carefully, deliberately, and with trust in its footing.

The Magician – You Have The Power to Create

Capricorn asks a direct question. What are you going to build?

The Magician follows as a reminder of your creative capacity. You already have what you need to create and build the life you love. The Magician works with the four elements. Air for thoughts and ideas. Water for emotions and intuition. Fire for passion and motivation. Earth for the body, the material world, and practical effort.

Dreaming and thinking matter. They inform direction. But they are not the destination. Action is the bridge. You may need to learn new skills or recommit to practicing the ones you already have. Either way, the Magician asks you to engage fully with your tools and take responsibility for what you are creating.

Tarot cards of 2 of wands and 6 of pentacles

Two of Wands – It’s Time to Choose

The Two of Wands marks the moment of choice. You can see the horizon. You sense what is possible. Now the question becomes whether you will continue doing what you have always done, or whether you are willing to try something new.

This is a threshold moment in your journey. You are prepared. You are no longer waiting for permission or certainty. You have enough clarity to take the next step. The future is shaped by the choices you make now.

Six of Pentacles – Sacred Reciprocity

The Six of Pentacles adds to the message by introducing the theme of reciprocal exchange. In this deck, the pentacles appear as colorful mandalas. One hand is open, palm up, receiving the mandalas from a hand above. An energetic path in the shape of the infinity symbol connects giver and receiver.

This image speaks to sacred reciprocity. What we give circulates back to us. Sustainable creation depends on balance. Giving without depletion. Receiving without guilt. Allowing support to move both ways.

The Six of Pentacles imagery reflects the relationship between my work and the True North Arts community. The teacher needs the student, the student needs the teacher. I share soulful and creative living through mandala making, astrology, and tarot. In return, I receive connection, reflection, and affirmation. I am energized every time I receive a comment, email, or when we connect in a workshop or one-on-one in my AstroTarot Readings. The exchange is mutual, supportive, and alive. As you make your plans under this New Moon, consider not only what you are building, but how energy, resources, and inspiration flow between you and the people you serve or walk alongside.

The Fool – Trust Your Journey

At the heart of this reading is The Fool.

In this deck, we see a woman leaning backward over a cliff, arms stretched outward, eyes closed in a trust fall. She is not reckless. She is prepared. While The Fool is the first card of the Major Arcana, she is not inexperienced. Like the Wheel of Fortune, she has traveled many cycles. She has learned, fallen, risen, and learned again.

The Fool holds an amethyst crystal in one hand, symbolizing intuition and connection to divine wisdom. In the other hand, she carries a wand, alive with creative energy and desire. This image reminds us that beginning again does not mean starting from nothing. It means trusting what you already know and allowing yourself to step forward anyway.

The Fool teaches that action requires trust. Trust in yourself. Trust in your intuition. Trust that you are ready for this next chapter, even if you cannot see every step ahead.

Capricorn New Moon Mandala

To anchor this New Moon energy, I recommend working with the Four Gates Mandala. Using the stencil, there are three paths. To fit the chakra stencil, be sure to ‘walk’ the middle path. The Root Chakra grounds the mandala in stability and support. The Root Chakra energy helps you feel centered, safe, and supported as you work toward your goals. I chose brown colors to match the energy of the earthy Capricorn sign. The beautiful texture was created by sprinkling salt on the wet watercolor paint and allowing it to dry fully before brushing it off.

To get the most of the healing energy of the root chakra, stick with the color red. Each color has an energetic frequency and this color stimulates our root chakra energy center. Final touches in gold speak to the quality, refinement, and luxury that Capricorn works hard to achieve.

How I’m Working With the Capricorn New Moon
January 17, 2026

As this New Moon approaches, I wanted to share how I am personally working with this Capricorn energy in real time.

This morning, I met with a tax accountant after realizing I had overpaid Massachusetts taxes. We are now filing amended returns, and as she reviewed everything, she noted that I will be receiving a significant refund.

I am choosing to place that money into my brokerage account with the intention of it growing steadily over time in support of my retirement.

There is nothing flashy about this decision. And yet, it feels deeply aligned with the New Moon in Capricorn. Reviewing structures, correcting what needs adjustment, and making choices that support long term stability rather than short term gratification.

This is how Capricorn energy often works. Quietly. Practically. With an eye toward the future.

You may already be working with the Capricorn New Moon without even realizing it, just as I often do. Sometimes I look back and see how my actions were already aligned with the current energies. Other times, I choose to work with them more intentionally.

I’m here to help you notice these cycles, understand what’s being supported right now, and make the most of how you’re already moving with the energy.

It’s Time to Commit

This Capricorn New Moon is not asking you to dream bigger. It is asking you to commit more deeply. To choose steadiness over urgency. To trust that slow, intentional effort creates lasting change.

This is the moment where vision becomes practice.
This is the shift from dream to doing.

Thank you for joining me on this soulful and creative journey.
