Leo is ruled by the Sun, and this Full Moon illuminates the solar plexus chakra, our internal sun and the energetic seat of personal power, confidence, and self direction. The solar plexus governs how we take up space in the world and how we translate desire into action. When this center is balanced and energized, the affirmations “I can” and “I do” are naturally activated. We move from hesitation into embodied knowing.
This mandala practice is designed to help you reconnect with your inner radiance and strengthen your relationship with your own authority, creativity, and courage.
Mandala Practice Steps
Step 1: Set your intention
Before you begin drawing, pause and get clear on your intention. What do you desire right now? Name it simply. As you work on your mandala, return your thoughts to this intention again and again. Imagine what it will look like and feel like when this desire is fully alive in your life. This mandala becomes a container for that intention, infused with the energy of your thoughts, feelings, and presence.
Step 2: Create the center
Using the solar plexus chakra stencil, available from StencilGirl Products, draw the central symbol. This traditional form represents the energetic core of this chakra and serves as the anchor point for your mandala.
Step 3: Draw the sun rays
Instead of tracing the outer ring of lotus petals in the stencil, draw sun like rays freehand radiating outward. Follow the natural contours of each ray to create borders and rhythm. Add playful details such as dotted lines, squiggles, or repeated marks. Leo invites you to release perfectionism and embrace joy. Let this be a practice of freedom rather than precision. Trust your hand. Let yourself play.
Step 4: Add color
Yellow is the primary color associated with the solar plexus, reflecting vitality, clarity, and the life giving energy of the sun. Begin with yellow as your foundation. Because this is a personal mandala, feel free to add an accent color that feels supportive or energizing. In my mandala, I added sky blue, which creates a lively, vibrant contrast.
Step 5: Activate the mandala
My finished mandala evolved into a simple crystal grid by placing small rough cut citrine stones in between each ray of sunshine. Citrine is closely associated with the solar plexus and can amplify themes of confidence, abundance, and motivation. You may also choose gemstones of a similar color or energetic quality to enhance the intention held within your mandala. Place the stones on and or around your mandala.
