You’re Invited!
Join Kathryn Costa and the True North Arts community in a global circle of peace and creativity for the International Day of Peace. This free virtual gathering is an opportunity for people from all spiritual and creative paths to come together in solidarity and reflection through the healing power of art.
Let your heart speak through your art. Together, we will create a visual prayer for peace.
Art as a Path to Peace
On this International Day of Peace, we recognize the deep and sacred connection between art-making and peacemaking. Creating art is more than self-expression—it is an act of presence, of healing, of hope. In a world that can feel fractured and chaotic, choosing to sit down with intention and create beauty is a radical, life-affirming choice.
Through art, we slow down. We listen inward.
We make space for what is true, tender, and unresolved.
And in that space, peace can begin.
When we take the time to care for ourselves—gently tending to our hearts, honoring our feelings, and cultivating self-compassion—we plant the first seeds of peace.
Inner peace is not separate from world peace.
It is the foundation.
As we care for our own well-being, we strengthen our capacity to care for others. From this place of wholeness, we are better able to take proactive steps—to speak up, to reach out, to support those affected by conflict and suffering.
Let us honor both the personal and the collective journey.
Let our mandalas and creative offerings be not only meditations,
but messages of solidarity,
acts of love,
commitments to a more peaceful world.
Peace begins within.
Peace expands through intention.
Peace is possible—when we create it together.
Call for Art Submission
We are collecting peace-inspired mandala artwork to be featured in a PDF art gallery and visual presentation during the International Day of Peace live free event.
Download this invitation and instructions.
Deadline to submit art: September 10, 2025
Submissions may reflect your hopes, prayers, and vision for peace—within yourself, your relationships, your community, and the world.
Choose Your Creative Path
You are invited to create a mandala using one of the following sacred forms:
1. Four Gates Mandala
Use the Four Gates Mandala stencil and the reflective process outlined in the Journey of the Four Gates eBook.
Each gate—Contemplation, Creativity, Courage, and Commitment—supports your journey toward inner and outer peace.
2. Heart Chakra Mandala
Use the Heart Chakra stencil to express compassion, forgiveness, and unconditional love. The heart chakra is the seat of empathy and kindness, essential qualities for creating peace.
3. Seed of Life
This ancient symbol of seven interlocking circles reflects creation, harmony, and unity.
- A printable Seed of Life template is included with this handout.
- Step-by-step drawing instructions can be found in The Mandala Guidebook by Kathryn Costa.
4. Peace Mandala of Your Own Design
You are invited to create a mandala of your own design. Or you may have created a mandala in the past that brought you peace. Anything goes!
