The Full Moon in Aquarius invites us to step outside our comfort zones and see life from a fresh angle. For many of us, that means facing the traits we least recognize in ourselves — the qualities of our zodiac opposite. This lunar moment is not just about illumination, it is about perspective. And sometimes, perspective changes everything.
The zodiac sign you are most likely to not relate to is the one opposite your sun sign. For me, that is Aquarius. The Leo in me is fiery and passionate. Aquarius is cool, level-headed, and often seems aloof.
Here are the polarities for all twelve zodiac signs:
- Aries and Libra
- Taurus and Scorpio
- Gemini and Sagittarius
- Cancer and Capricorn
- Leo and Aquarius
- Virgo and Pisces
If we think about the actual placement of these opposite signs, they cannot see each other. They are on completely opposite sides of the zodiac wheel. When one is at its height in the Northern Hemisphere, the other is in the Southern Hemisphere. How can you understand something that you cannot see? Our nature is to not relate.
Fortunately, we are humans with the capacity to reflect and learn, especially when we get curious and seek balance. Each zodiac sign has something to teach us. Are you ready to learn from Aquarius?

I often feel the shift in energy a week or so before a new or full moon. Such was the case with this Full Moon in Aquarius. For the first time, I truly felt a special quality that Aquarians are known for — seeing things from a different perspective, often novel, innovative, and completely mind-shifting. It reminds me of the Hanged Man in Tarot, whose head hangs down while looking at life upside down.
Here is how I am seeing a passion project very differently.
In January, I came up with a book idea that would make for a sequel to my first book, The Mandala Guidebook. Energized by the vision, I mapped out the chapters, planned thirty project ideas, and created a couple of sample chapters. By February, I sent my book proposal to my publisher, who holds the first right of refusal per my contract.
I waited five months for a reply, so it was no surprise when the answer finally came as a “no.” The imprint has reduced the number of books they are publishing each year and has a backlog of projects. While I waited, I joyfully wrote my Traveling by Moonlight blog posts, worked on a rebrand, updated my website, and continued developing the book.

A few weeks before getting the decision, I had moments of clarity, much like the lightning strike in the Tower card of the Tarot. Lightning is associated with inspiration and breakthroughs. In the Tower card, what you thought, believed, and understood crumbles. In this case, it was not so dramatic, even for this Leo. I began asking: Why a book? Do I want to work with a traditional publisher? How might I involve my community in creating and publishing this work? What if I released chapters as my fundraising numbers increased? How could I use this content in other ways?
By stepping away from the established and traditional, I found myself thinking like an Aquarian. Aquarians are all about innovation and community — and now I get it.
So when the rejection email arrived, this Leo did not feel rejected or disappointed, which is rare for us Leos. It felt like a call to turn my ship in a new direction, one that feels more aligned with my True North Arts brand and community.
I will give myself more time, perhaps a year or more, to continue developing the content and deciding what to do with it. I love the idea of sending out calls for art and inviting my community to participate. In the meantime, I will continue Traveling by Moonlight and offering events at the solstices, equinoxes, and other special moments throughout the year.
I am delighted that the “no” I received was actually a “yes” — a yes to pursuing my dreams in new and novel ways I could not have imagined five months ago.

Aquarius Full Moon Mandala
This featured mandala is a work in progress. I chose the third-eye chakra as it is the seat of our intuition. I painted the background, traced the third-eye chakra design using my stencil on a book page, cut it out, and glued it to the center of the Four Gates Mandala. It beautifully captures this moment of the Full Moon in Aquarius.
