Think you can’t draw?
Think again.
I designed this video for you!
I’ll show you step-by-step how to draw this mandala.
I know you have everything that you need. All it takes is something to write with and something to write on plus a desire to create mandalas. Let’s not forget how much fun it will be to color your first mandala.
PEP TALK: The Charm of Imperfection
I’m a recovering perfectionist. When I started drawing mandalas, I struggled with making my lines even and perfect. I used rulers and stencils to craft what I thought were flawless mandalas, but something was missing: my unique style. After creating many mandalas, I eased up on myself and began to genuinely enjoy the process. The more I enjoyed it, the more my lines naturally reflected who I was. Now, when I see the imperfect, “wonky” lines, I see a charm and spirit that was absent from my “perfect” mandalas.
This lesson has extended far beyond my mandala drawing. I’ve realized that perfectionism wasn’t just shaping my art—it was shaping my life in ways that often held me back. I used to hesitate to try new things for fear of failing or not being good enough. But as I embraced imperfection in my creativity, I began to approach life with the same mindset.
In relationships, I stopped worrying about saying the perfect thing and focused on being present and genuine. In my work, I discovered that allowing myself to make mistakes often led to fresh, innovative ideas. Even in everyday activities—like cooking or decorating my space—I’ve found joy in experimenting and creating something uniquely mine, imperfections and all.
Letting go of perfection has not only freed my creativity; it’s also allowed me to connect more deeply with myself and others. I’ve learned that the quirks and imperfections in anything—be it art, life, or relationships—often hold the most beauty.
“I want you to know you did a beautiful job in giving me confidence and explaining and demonstrating how to create a mandala. I’m going to try it tonight!!”
