Embracing the Scorpio Full Moon: Transforming Shadow into Light

The upcoming Full Moon in Scorpio invites us to descend into the deeper layers of our inner world, illuminating the parts of ourselves we often keep hidden. Scorpio, a water sign ruled by Pluto, calls us to meet our emotions with courage, to transform fear into insight, and to release what no longer serves us. This is a time of emotional honesty, inner alchemy, and profound regeneration.

Scorpio energy is intense, but it is also deeply purposeful. It asks us to face the heavier aspects of life—grief, fear, vulnerability—not to overwhelm us, but to free us. On the other side of that willingness lies clarity, empowerment, and emotional liberation.

Scorpio also governs the pelvic region, connecting its energy to the sacral chakra, the center of creativity, emotional flow, intimacy, and pleasure. When we work consciously with Scorpio energy, we are not only exploring our emotional depths, but also reconnecting with our capacity to feel, to create, and to fully inhabit our bodies.

At its core, the sacral chakra is also the source of play. While it is often described as the seat of sensuality, this speaks to how we experience the world through our senses through sight, sound, smell, and touch.

With the Sun in Taurus, we are offered a steady counterbalance. Taurus brings grounding, patience, and a sense of rootedness. It reminds us to stay anchored, even as Scorpio stirs deep emotional waters. Where Scorpio dives, Taurus stabilizes. Together, they support transformation that is not only profound, but sustainable.

Scorpio Full Moon Meaning

The Full Moon in Scorpio represents a peak moment of emotional awareness and inner revelation. Full Moons illuminate what has been building beneath the surface, and in Scorpio, this often relates to hidden fears, subconscious patterns, and unprocessed emotions.

This is a time when truths can surface, both within ourselves and in our external lives. While this can feel intense, it is also an opportunity for deep healing. Scorpio energy is not interested in surface-level change. It invites us to go to the root, to understand what is really driving our reactions, and to release what is ready to be transformed.

At its highest expression, the Scorpio Full Moon is about empowerment. It asks us to reclaim our energy from fear, from overthinking, and from emotional patterns that keep us stuck. It reminds us that transformation begins with awareness, and that we have the capacity to move through even the most complex emotions with strength and clarity.

Sacral Chakra: Balanced vs. Unbalanced

Because Scorpio energy is closely tied to the pelvic region and the sacral chakra, this Full Moon can illuminate how we relate to our emotions, creativity, and sense of pleasure.

When the sacral chakra is balanced, we tend to feel:

  • Emotionally fluid and able to process feelings without becoming overwhelmed
  • Creatively inspired and open to new ideas
  • Comfortable with intimacy, connection, and vulnerability
  • At ease in our bodies, with a healthy relationship to pleasure and joy
  • Able to experience life with curiosity, passion, and presence
  • Drawn to sense of play, engaging the senses, and finding delight in what we see, hear, smell, and touch

When the sacral chakra is unbalanced, it may show up as:

  • Emotional suppression or, on the other end, emotional overwhelm
  • Creative blocks or lack of inspiration
  • Difficulty with intimacy, boundaries, or trust
  • Disconnection from the body or discomfort with pleasure
  • Patterns of fear, control, or avoidance around emotions

This Scorpio Full Moon offers an opportunity to gently bring awareness to these patterns without judgment and to begin restoring flow where things may feel stuck or stagnant.

A Personal Reflection: Walking Through the 9 of Swords

Recently, I experienced something that felt like a living embodiment of this Scorpio Full Moon energy.

I had to undergo an ultrasound in the pelvic area due to a health concern. Almost immediately, my mind began spinning through every possible outcome. Living alone, I found myself caught in a loop of “what-ifs,” lying awake at night, anxiety building on itself. This is very much the energy of the 9 of Swords.

But then something shifted.

Instead of resisting the fear, I allowed myself to feel it fully. And once I did, I made a conscious decision not to stay there. I returned to my days, placing my attention on what was actually in front of me. The small, tangible moments, the rhythm of daily life, the quiet sensory details that reminded me I was here, now. In that moment, I trusted that each next step would reveal itself in time.

When the ultrasound was complete, I felt an unexpected wave of relief and even elation. The next step was taken and waiting for the results didn’t linger like a heavy dark cloud. The results showed that a biopsy would be needed. But in that moment, I honestly felt grounded, present, and at ease. I realized something simple but profound: I could choose to enjoy the day I was in.

Why not? I feel fine. Why spoil it with the what ifs that may not even happen?

I understood then that if challenges arise, I will meet them when they do. Not before.

A friend of mine, an artist who continued creating throughout the final years of his life while living with advanced cancer, once shared something similar. He said we don’t have to dwell on our problems constantly. He found refuge in his studio, returning again and again to what nourished him: his art.

It wasn’t until my own experience that I truly understood this. We have a choice in where we place our attention. And that choice can open space for joy, even in the presence of uncertainty.

How to Work with the Scorpio Full Moon

Working with the Scorpio Full Moon does not require dramatic rituals. It begins with awareness and intention.

Start by noticing what is coming up emotionally. Rather than pushing it away or becoming consumed by it, allow yourself to feel it with curiosity. Ask what it is here to show you.

Create space for release. This might look like journaling, having an honest conversation, or simply acknowledging a pattern you are ready to let go of.

Lean into Taurus energy by grounding yourself in the present moment. Spend time in nature, connect with your body, or engage your senses in simple ways that bring you back to center.

Explore creativity as a way to move emotional energy. The sacral chakra thrives when we allow expression without judgment.

Be gentle with yourself. Transformation is a process. It unfolds in layers, not all at once.

What the Scorpio Full Moon Offers Us

This Full Moon invites us to:

  • Confront our fears without allowing them to take the lead
  • Transform heavy emotions into insight, action, or creative expression
  • Align with sacral chakra energy by honoring creativity, emotional flow, and reconnecting with a sense of play through the simple, sensory experience of being alive
  • Use Taurus grounding to stay rooted, balancing depth with steadiness
  • Recognize the power of the present moment, choosing gratitude alongside uncertainty

Scorpio teaches us that facing the shadow does not mean becoming consumed by it. We can feel deeply without losing ourselves. We can acknowledge fear without handing it control.

Transformation is not always dramatic. Sometimes it is quiet. Subtle. A shift in attention. A willingness to feel, and then to return to life, not only with awareness, but with a renewed capacity to engage, to sense, and to find small moments of joy along the way.

And in that return, something opens—clarity, strength, even joy.

Now bring your attention to the heart of your page.

At the center of my journal is the 2026 Community Mandala, a collaborative piece created with members of the True North Arts community. Surrounding the sacral chakra, each petal holds a word and intention for the year.

✨ Stickers will be available for purchase on May 1, 2026, under the Scorpio Full Moon. Subscribe to the newsletter to be the first to receive yours.

To create your own center:

Let everything else on your page flow around this center point.

  • Think warmth, calm, and support
  • Anchor yourself in the present moment

  • a phrase that speaks to you

Alternatively, write from the heart.

  • in the Scorpio journal block, write about a fear or what may be surfacing that is ready for your attention.
  • in the Taurus journal block, write down what grounds and supports you

Let the words weave through your page, flowing around your center and into each space.

5. Let it Be Playful

Add color, patterns, and your own creative flair.

Let it be:

  • sensory
  • intuitive
  • a little messy
  • and entirely yours

This is your space to feel deeply
and stay grounded at the same time.
